Day 64 Ephesus in Good Company

I woke up this morning pretty refreshed, having spent last night updating and watching True Grit. Our bus was at 9:15, so we packed up, paid our tab and headed out. The bus was just little this time, and we were stuck in the back corner, but luckily the 3 hour bus trip went by pretty quickly! I did have to pee for a while though... which for sure made it feel longer!

Once in Selcuk, the town where Ephesus is located, we met up with Belinda, who had come in from Bodum to tour the ruins with David and I. I booked a return ticket to Bodrum, and we grabbed a minibus to the site. It was 25 TL to get in, but the area is pretty big! There are some really well restored buildings to see, and of curse many ubiquitous pillars to pose on...

Ephesus used to be an important and prosperous Greek town, and in the imperial Roman time it was the capital of the Asian proconsulate. The city was important strategically and  for its port, whose eventual displacement due to silt aides in the city's decline. There is a huge amphitheatre, as well as a smaller one on the site, and a beautifully restored library facade, the Libray of Celsua. There were of course the throngs of tour groups, and as with all parts of Turkey, cats.
just being some statues!
The Library of Celsus.
We took our time, but eventually headed back on the shuttle bus, who was only 3 TL, and wandered around a huge bazaar conveniently located right behind the bus stop! For day two of my Paleo promise, I found a serving of chicken and salad for under $2! Score! We has quite a bit of time to kill, so we settled onto a park bench and David brought out the laptop. We watched Zombieland, which was pretty funny!

Quick a hilarious idiosyncrasy: "Genuine Fake Watches"
David's catching the bus to Istanbul tonight, and I think we'll meet up in Prague again. For now I'm working on how I'm supposed to get to the Sabiha Goken airport from Istanbul, a bit of a hike it seems. It doesn't help that my flight is at 4:40 am either, but what can ya do? The night bus to Istanbul is booked for tomorrow and I'll figure it out later!

This little guy was super friendly!
The hotel we are at is pretty cute, has a pool in the backyard and serves brekkie! There are also apparently baby turtles running (or shuffling??) around out there, an the beach is really close! Relaxation station in my opinion! Looking forward to makin full use of the down time!

That's all for now! Lots of love!
